People Viewing Web1000 Sites:
- No personally identifiable information is stored, sold, or otherwise retained or passed on to third parties. Advertisements may be run on or in conjunction with Web1000 sites. Web1000's privacy policy does not cover these advertisements. This means that advertisements may deploy cookies or otherwise gather user information. You should consult the privacy policy of the party being advertised to determine whether cookies or other technology associated with those ads comport with your privacy requirements.
Cookies are used only for the following purposes:
- To prevent advertising content from being displayed too often to the same visitor. As an example, as of August 1, 2000, a cookie is used to indicate that a user has already seen a pop-up advertisement, and that no new pop-up advertisement should be shown until 12 hours after the prior pop-up. If a user disables cookies, the user will see advertisements more frequently, as the system has no way of knowing that the user has already seen the advertisement and should not be shown the advertisement again until a specified time has passed.
- To identify the advertisements already shown to the user, so that the user is shown new ads each time, rather than the same ad over and over. Similarly, cookies may be used to track other information related to the advertising display, source as the source of the traffic ultimately directed to the advertised site.
- To prevent theft of bandwidth. A cookie indicates that a user has already seen an html page, and an advertisement, and is most likely downloading content legitimately linked to from a customer page. Similarly, the absence of a cookie means that the user is likely downloading content hot-linked from a third party page, which is not permitted. A user who disables cookies may be unable to download certain files as a result.

- Other than as described above, cookies are not used to track any information that personally identifies the user.
